Programme Manager – Transformation
Location: Manchester or London (hybrid – 2 days a week in the office, regular travel to London)
Salary: £56,500–£70,500 + benefits
A major UK housing and social landlord organisation with a multi‑year transformation. The aim is to move from siloed ways of working and a complex systems landscape to streamlined, end‑to‑end resident journeys and a simplified operating model.
They are recruiting multiple Programme Managers to join the central delivery team.
The Role
You will deliver complex projects and small programmes as part of a large transformation portfolio, working closely with colleagues across London and Manchester. Depending on size and scale, you may:
- Lead a single large project, or
- Run several smaller projects, or
- Manage a small programme of related initiatives.
You’ll be exposed to work across:
- Service and resident journey redesign
- Technology and data change
- Process improvement
- Culture, leadership and organisational change
Key Responsibilities
- Own end‑to‑end delivery of assigned projects/programmes, from definition to handover
- Develop and maintain plans, milestones and deliverables; manage change control
- Manage budgets, forecasts and benefits tracking, providing clear, concise reporting
- Proactively manage and escalate risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies
- Establish appropriate governance and stakeholder forums
- Coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams across business, tech, data, service design and change
- Support translation of resident journeys into processes, organisational impacts, and tech/data needs
- Lead stakeholder engagement and communication, helping embed new ways of working
- Share lessons learned and contribute to the development of the delivery community
- Flex across different transformation programmes as priorities shift
About You
- Proven experience as a Project/Programme Manager delivering complex change
- Comfortable running large single projects or multiple smaller initiatives
- Full lifecycle experience from inception and business case through delivery and transition to BAU
- Strong skills in planning, RAID management, governance and financial tracking
- Able to work with diverse stakeholder groups and manage competing priorities
- Experience of major transformation or significant organisational change
- Resilient, collaborative and delivery‑oriented, with strong organisation skills
- Clear communicator with good stakeholder management and emotional intelligence
You must be open to regular travel to London (all travel and accommodation costs covered). Sector experience in housing/local government is not required.
