Software Engineer
A leading higher education provider is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support a critical upgrade of their Actian Ingres database system. Role Overview:
The Software Engineer will play a vital role in supporting the upgrade and migration of legacy systems within a complex delivery environment. The purpose of this role is to collaborate with internal teams to facilitate a smooth transition from legacy to modern systems, ensuring successful project delivery aligned with the October 2026 go-live target.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Strong background in Actian Ingres system upgrades
• Hands-on, practical experience with database migration and upgrade projects
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to liaise with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Key Responsibilities:
• Support the upgrade and migration of legacy systems/software
• Work across multiple project workstreams within a complex delivery environment
• Collaborate with internal teams for a seamless system transition
• Analyse existing legacy codebases and architectures
• Assist in troubleshooting, testing, and validation during the upgrade process
• Provide hands-on development support as needed
• Ensure project timelines are met in line with the October 2026 go-live
Requirements:
• Proven experience in Actian Ingres system upgrades
• Availability to start on or around 15/05/2026 (mid-June start possible for the right candidate)
• On-site presence at the specified location
• Right to work in the relevant location
• Previous experience in similar database upgrade projects
