Engineering Manager
Our client is a scaling technology company committed to innovation and growth, fostering a collaborative and dynamic work culture. They are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead product engineering teams responsible for building modern consumer platforms at scale. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, focusing on developing engineers, enhancing delivery processes, and partnering closely with Product teams. The position is based in London with a hybrid working model (1 day onsite), providing an excellent chance to contribute to impactful projects within a forward-thinking organization.
Role Overview:
This Engineering Manager role is pivotal in supporting and guiding 1–2 engineering squads to ensure successful delivery and team growth. The manager will oversee one-on-one meetings, provide feedback, manage appraisals, and facilitate career development, all while working closely with Product Managers on sprint planning and process improvement initiatives. The role is essential to scaling engineering efforts and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Previous Engineering Management experience
• Experience managing multiple engineers/direct reports
• Strong stakeholder and communication skills
• Experience working in scaling product businesses
• Collaborative, coaching-led management style
Key Responsibilities:
• Managing 1–2 engineering squads to oversee delivery and team development
• Leading 1-on-1 meetings, providing feedback, and conducting appraisals
• Supporting career development initiatives for engineers
• Collaborating with Product Managers on sprint planning and delivery
• Contributing to the improvement of engineering processes as the business scales
• Promoting agile delivery practices and team collaboration
Requirements:
• Right to work in the UK
• Experience in a technology environment involving Ruby and React Native
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails
• Ability to operate in a hybrid working setup in London
Nice to Have:
• Experience working with AWS or Heroku
