Senior AWS Engineer (Data Platforms)

A leading financial services organisation is seeking a skilled Senior AWS Engineer (Data Platforms) to join its team based in London. The company prides itself on fostering a dynamic and innovative culture, focusing on leveraging cloud technology to deliver exceptional services. This role involves designing and building scalable data pipelines, cloud-native integration services, and event-driven solutions to support both front and back-office systems. The position is crucial for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of the organisation’s data and cloud infrastructure.

Role Overview:
This role is integral to supporting the organisation’s AWS cloud programme, combining data engineering, AWS platform engineering, and production support. The Senior AWS Engineer will lead the development of data solutions, support ongoing systems, and promote automation and best practices within the team.

Key Skills & Experience:
• Strong experience with AWS services such as Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, S3, Athena, RDS, and CloudWatch
• Proficiency in Python and Terraform for automation and infrastructure management
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket, GitHub Actions, or GitLab
• Data modelling and SQL expertise
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures involving Kinesis, ActiveMQ, or RabbitMQ
• Experience with EKS and EC2 platforms
• Ability to monitor, support, and optimise cloud and data platforms

Key Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain scalable AWS data pipelines and integration platforms
• Develop and support real-time and batch data solutions
• Support production systems, ensuring platform reliability and performance
• Lead automation initiatives through Infrastructure-as-Code practices
• Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to deliver solutions
• Mentor internal engineers and promote sustainable operational practices

Requirements:
• Right to work in the UK
• Proven experience in AWS cloud environments, particularly with data platforms
• Experience working on hybrid (on-site and cloud) environments
• Availability to start on 26/06/2026 for a 12-month contract
