Senior Backend Engineer - 80 to 110k – London
Senior Backend Engineers are required to join a fast growing Fintech business that is approaching Series A. These are new roles created due to growth, with two positions available.
The company is looking for mature backend engineers who enjoy getting stuck in and contributing directly to feature development rather than purely architectural work. This is a very hands on role, with approximately 80% focused on delivery and coding, and 20% on everything else.
You’ll be working primarily with TypeScript and Node.js, alongside strong database technologies (MySQL / Postgres preferred but not essential). Engineers must be comfortable writing raw SQL and dealing directly with database queries, as performance, speed, and reliability are core focuses of the platform.
The position can pay up to £100,000 per annum and ideally 2 days a week in office although there are remote options available.
Skills required:
• Strong backend engineering experience (TypeScript + Node.js)
• Strong MySQL and database knowledge (Postgres preferred but open to others)
• Comfortable writing raw SQL and working directly with database queries
• Proven ability to debug applications and optimise performance, speed, and reliability
• Hands-on mindset with a focus on feature development
• Comfortable operating in a lean and scrappy environment
• Happy spending the majority of time coding (80/20 split)
• Open to pair programming and collaborative working
