Management Accountant
Our client is a public sector organisation committed to delivering impactful services within a collaborative and supportive culture. This small organisation, with approximately 75 staff, is currently undergoing a period of restructure and is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to provide crucial interim support. The role offers an opportunity to stabilise finance functions during a busy period, ensuring accurate financial reporting and process improvements. Reporting within a matrix structure to both the CFO and a senior internal stakeholder, the successful candidate will play a vital role in managing key financial activities, supporting year-end closure, and helping the organisation navigate its transition effectively.
Role Overview:
This interim Management Accountant role is designed to deliver essential finance support during a critical time of organisational change. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing management accounts, supporting audit processes, managing treasury operations, and enhancing financial controls, all while working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure smooth financial operations and transition.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Fully qualified Management Accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or strong part-qualified with solid experience
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of negotiating and influencing at all levels
• Experience in fast-paced, outcome-driven environments
• Immediately available
Key Responsibilities:
• Produce accurate and timely month-end management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary
• Support year-end close processes and audits, including schedules and reconciliations
• Manage treasury activities such as cashflow oversight, banking processes, and payment controls
• Strengthen financial controls and enhance day-to-day finance processes
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to provide financial insights and facilitate decision-making
• Absorb workload from the existing finance team to ensure continuity during organisational change
Requirements:
• On-site working environment in London, UK, with a hybrid model
• UK-based with right to work in the UK
• Immediate availability to start at short notice
• Ability to commit to approximately 2 days per week initially, potentially reducing to 1 day once established
• Contract duration of 16 weeks, commencing 20/03/2026
• Salary: £0.00 (the role is supported by a daily pay rate of £250, with a range of £250–£275 per day depending on experience)
