Head of IT
Our client is undergoing a significant restructure within their ICT and Digital functions, fostering a dynamic and forward-thinking environment. They are seeking an experienced interim Head of IT to provide strong leadership, establish structure, and deliver stability across applications and development teams during this period of change. This role offers a flexible, hybrid working environment with an initial on-site requirement in Manchester.
Role Overview:
This position involves taking ownership of multiple teams involved in applications, development, and business systems. The successful candidate will focus on enhancing governance, prioritisation, and delivery processes. Collaborating closely with existing managers, you will work to stabilise the function and embed more effective ways of working to support ongoing digital transformation initiatives.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Senior ICT / Digital leadership experience
• Managing managers and multiple teams
• Background in applications and/or development
• Ability to introduce structure, governance, and prioritisation
• Experience working in complex, stakeholder-heavy environments
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Familiarity with Agile and ITIL environments
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and direct applications and development teams, providing clear guidance
• Implement structured work plans, prioritisation, and governance frameworks
• Enhance visibility of workloads and team capacity
• Support and oversee existing managers
• Stabilise and develop the development function
• Facilitate team transitions and new ways of working
• Engage with stakeholders to improve service delivery and alignment
• Support wider digital initiatives, including automation and AI
