Senior FS Engineer

The role involves taking technical ownership of a flagship public-facing platform, working across the full stack to improve system robustness and deliver new features. You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing a multi-component, live production system that serves thousands of users, with specific focus areas including expanding test coverage, implementing CI/CD pipelines, addressing security vulnerabilities, and leveraging AI-assisted development tools.
Role Overview:
As a Senior FS Engineer, you will lead the technical direction of a high-traffic public platform, ensuring system stability, performance, and security. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and innovative solutions, driving improvements in code quality and deployment processes. Your contribution will be vital in maintaining a secure, scalable, and efficient environment that supports the organization’s growth.
Key Skills & Experience:
• 4–6 years of professional software development experience
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript
• Demonstrable experience with AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor)
• Experience in maintaining and improving existing codebases
• Familiarity with full-stack development across multiple layers
• Knowledge of security best practices for web applications and infrastructure
Key Responsibilities:
• Take technical ownership of a multi-component public-facing platform serving thousands of users
• Maintain and enhance a SolidStart (TypeScript) web application with features like mapping and search
• Manage data flows across PostgreSQL, DuckDB, and Elasticsearch
• Expand test coverage and establish CI/CD quality gates to ensure deployment confidence
• Identify and resolve security vulnerabilities across the tech stack
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools daily for coding, reviewing, and refactoring
• Collaborate with the Head of Software Engineering and other teams to align on architecture and priorities
• Work within an AWS environment, including Lambda functions, ECS, S3, and S3 infrastructure management tools
Requirements:
• Right to work in the UK
• On-site availability in London for monthly team days
• 4–6 years of relevant professional experience
• Proficiency in TypeScript and full-stack development
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools
• Ability to learn new languages and frameworks efficiently, especially with AI support
• Excellent code reading and understanding skills
Nice to Have:
• Experience with spatial data (PostGIS, GIS formats, mapping libraries)
• Familiarity with reactive frontend frameworks such as React, Svelte, or Vue
• Experience with AWS serverless architecture (Lambda, ECS, S3)
