Software Engineer

London (Soho) | 4 Days in Office | £40,000–£50,000 + Equity

We’re partnering with one of the most exciting consumer tech startups in London, building the next generation of social products.

Over the last few years, the team built one of Europe’s fastest-growing consumer apps, scaling from zero to millions of users, reaching #1 on the US App Store and supporting over a billion pieces of user-generated content.

Now, they’re starting again — with bigger ambitions, a new product and the backing to scale fast.

The business is launching a brand new AI-powered social platform focused on private groups, shared experiences and custom-built chat experiences. Think less public social media, more “digital living room” for friends.

This is a rare chance to join a high-performing engineering team right at the start of a major new product launch, with the opportunity to build for millions of users from day one.

The Role

This is a genuinely cross-functional software engineering role.

You’ll work across backend systems, mobile applications and internal tooling, helping shape both the product and the engineering culture as the company prepares for a major growth phase.

The environment is highly collaborative, fast-moving and AI-native. Engineers are expected to be comfortable using AI tooling in their day-to-day workflow and open to learning new technologies as the stack evolves.

Current technologies include:

  • Backend: Node.js and Rust
  • Mobile: Swift
  • Internal tooling and automation powered heavily by AI

You do not need prior experience across every part of the stack, but you do need to be excited by the idea of learning quickly and working across multiple areas.

What They’re Looking For

  • 1–2 years of software engineering experience, although strong graduates will also be considered
  • Strong fundamentals in at least one programming language
  • Open-minded approach to technology and tooling
  • Interest in consumer products, social platforms or startup environments
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment
  • Curious, adaptable and excited by AI-assisted development
  • Mobile experience is a bonus, but not essential
  • Startup or scale-up experience is helpful, but not required

This team is not looking for people who want to stay in one lane forever. They want engineers who are hungry, adaptable and excited by the idea of building whatever is needed to win.

Why Join?

  • Ship products used by millions of people
  • Solve genuinely difficult engineering problems around scale, social systems and AI
  • Join a team that has already built and scaled a massively successful consumer product
  • Learn directly from senior engineering leaders with deep startup experience
  • See your fingerprints across the entire product, not just one small area
  • Competitive salary plus meaningful equity
  • Private healthcare and dental cover
  • Learning and development budget
  • MacBook, iPhone and full AI tooling access
  • Regular team socials, lunches and company retreats
  • 35 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Visa sponsorship available

Interview Process

  • Introductory conversation with the VP of Engineering
  • Technical discussion focused on architecture, experience and problem solving
  • No coding tests or whiteboard exercises
  • Paid trial week available as part of the process

If you want to build ambitious consumer products, move fast, learn quickly and join a team before its next major growth phase, this is a standout opportunity.
