Senior Network and Cloud Engineer

Role Overview:
The Senior Network and Cloud Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of cloud and network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability. This position plays a key role in supporting the organisation’s digital transformation and network security strategies, working closely with various teams to deliver robust technology solutions.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in cloud and network administration
• Expertise in Azure cloud platform and enterprise networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, QoS)
• Strong knowledge of firewall administration and network security policies
• Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation
• Deep understanding of network security principles and zero-trust frameworks
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience mentoring junior team members, both onshore and offshore
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, deploy, and manage cloud environments across Azure and Oracle Cloud platforms
• Administer cloud-native services including virtual machines, containers, serverless functions, and managed databases
• Create and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep
• Implement and manage enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPNs, firewalls, routers, and switches
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network performance and capacity
• Oversee network security policies, including zero-trust architecture, segmentation, and micro-segmentation
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and support incident response efforts
• Develop automation scripts to streamline operations and support CI/CD pipelines
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, network diagrams, and change records
• Support on-call rotations and respond to critical incidents as needed
Requirements:
• Right to work in the UK
• At least 7 years of relevant experience in cloud and network administration
• Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure and enterprise networking protocols
• Proven experience managing firewalls and security controls
• Proficiency in scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to mentor team members and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Nice to Have:
• Relevant certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or CompTIA Network+
• Experience with container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, AKS, EKS)
• Knowledge of ITIL service management frameworks
• Prior experience in financial services, healthcare, or public sector environments
