Finance Consultant

Our client is a public sector organisation dedicated to improving operational efficiency and service delivery within the housing and local government sectors. This role involves supporting a finance transformation project through on-site workshops, facilitating discovery sessions, and working closely with finance stakeholders to identify process improvements. The position is crucial for enabling smooth transition and enhanced operational performance within the organisation.

Role Overview:
The Finance Consultant will play a key role in supporting finance-focused process discovery and transformation activities on-site in Manchester. They will collaborate with stakeholders to map current processes, identify risks and opportunities, and contribute to ongoing finance improvement initiatives, ensuring effective communication and practical insights based on previous experience.

Key Skills & Experience:
• Strong operational finance experience, particularly within transactional finance functions
• Experience participating in finance transformation initiatives
• Hands-on involvement in process mapping and discovery activities
• Experience working within Local Government, Housing Associations, or similar public sector environments
• Comfortable facilitating workshops and engaging with stakeholders at all levels
• Understanding of process improvement methodologies and workshop mechanics
• Friendly, down-to-earth, and collaborative approach

Key Responsibilities:
• Support and facilitate finance process discovery and workshop sessions at the client’s site in Manchester
• Engage confidently with finance colleagues using relevant finance terminology and practices
• Review current processes to identify risks, quick wins, and areas for improvement
• Contribute to finance transformation and continuous improvement activities
• Work alongside a Change Analyst, providing practical insight and challenge based on finance operations and transformation experience

Requirements:
• Right to work in the UK
• Operational finance experience within transactional finance functions
• Experience with finance transformation projects
• Availability for the on-site role in Manchester for approximately two weeks starting 03/07/2026
• Experience working within local government, housing, or similar public sector environments

Nice to Have (Optional):
• Experience with finance systems used in Housing or Local Government (e.g., OneAdvanced or similar)
• Exposure to finance system implementation or transformation projects
• Consultancy experience within finance transformation programmes
