Senior Data Scientist

Summary
Our client is looking for a senior Data Science consultant to audit, redesign, and rebuild their chargeback and revenue estimation models as production-grade pipelines (dbt on Databricks, Python), and build a business-facing scenario tool that lets non-technical stakeholders model the impact of hypotheses — for example, price changes — on expected revenue.

Modelling Philosophy
Our client favours simple, interpretable, parametric approaches over black-box ML. That means closed-form equations, demand/price curves, elasticity models, cohort survival curves, GLMs, parametric distributions, and additive decompositions (trend × seasonality × price × mix). Every parameter must have a plain-language business meaning. Tree ensembles, deep learning, and LLMs are out of scope unless a strong case can be made that a parametric alternative is unworkable.

What You'll Deliver

  • Audit of existing chargeback and revenue estimation models
  • Proposed redesign with documented modelling approach
  • Production forecasting and estimation models built in Databricks, dbt, and Python
  • Business-facing scenario planning tool for non-technical stakeholders
  • Full handover: documentation and knowledge transfer

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of senior data science / analytics engineering experience
  • End-to-end ownership of a forecasting or financial-estimation model in production
  • Demonstrable bias toward parametric approaches: price elasticity, demand curves, cohort/LTV curves, survival models, GLMs
  • Experience building scenario / what-if tools for non-technical stakeholders
  • Stack: Python (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, statsmodels, scipy.optimize), dbt (incremental models, tests, snapshots), Databricks (PySpark, Delta, jobs), advanced SQL
  • Domain experience in chargebacks, payment risk, revenue forecasting, LTV, cohort projections, or pricing/elasticity
  • Spanish C1+ (day-to-day with finance/ops stakeholders), English B2+ (documentation)
  • Comfortable reconciling model outputs against accounting figures and communicating uncertainty in business terms

Nice to Have

  • Payments / fintech / subscription / e-commerce background
  • MLflow, Unity Catalog, Databricks Workflows, or Airflow
  • Prior fixed-scope consulting track record with references
