Overview
We are seeking an Analytics Engineer to design, build, and maintain trusted analytical datasets that enable clear, consistent reporting and insight for a range of clients. You will sit between data engineering and analytics, owning transformation logic, data modelling, and data quality so that stakeholders can self-serve confidently.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines, transforming raw data into curated analytical models.
- Build dimensional and/or wider analytical models (e.g., star schemas) to support BI and operational reporting.
- Implement robust testing, documentation, and version control for analytics code and datasets.
- Partner with consultants, analysts, and client stakeholders to translate requirements into well-defined metrics and data products.
- Ensure data quality through monitoring, anomaly detection, and root-cause investigation.
- Optimise performance and cost across warehouses and transformation workloads.
- Support dashboarding and semantic layers where required, ensuring consistent definitions and governance.
- Contribute to best practice, reusable patterns, and internal accelerators across multiple client engagements.
Essential Requirements
- Commercial experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or BI engineering.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with data modelling for analytics.
- Hands-on experience with a modern cloud data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Azure Synapse).
- Experience with transformation tooling (e.g., dbt or equivalent) and orchestration (e.g., Airflow, Azure Data Factory, or similar).
- Proficiency with Git-based version control and CI/CD principles.
- Understanding of data governance, lineage, and metric definitions.
- Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a consultancy environment.
Desirable
- Experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and semantic modelling.
- Python for data manipulation and automation.
- Familiarity with privacy, security, and compliance considerations.
- Consulting experience delivering to multiple clients and industries.
