Location: Oxted (Hybrid – Minimum 2 Days On-Site)

A leading public organisation is seeking an IT Infrastructure & Support Specialist to support, maintain and optimise their hybrid IT estate while contributing to a multi‑year Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) programme. This is a hands‑on, operationally critical role ideal for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, system ownership, technical independence and working within a small, collaborative team.
You’ll take responsibility for escalated support, server maintenance, patching, monitoring, and operational health, while also supporting wider transformation work including server migrations, estate uplift, automation and modernisation activities. This role offers a rare opportunity to influence technical direction and make a visible impact from day one.
This is a great role for someone with around 5–7 years of experience across Microsoft infrastructure, hybrid environments and 2nd line support who wants autonomy, variety and the chance to play a key role in a major long-term transformation programme.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing server maintenance, patching cycles and routine system health checks.
- Handling escalated 2nd line cases and supporting 1st line when required.
- Monitoring system alerts, reviewing security logs and ensuring operational compliance.
- Supporting hybrid infrastructure including Microsoft 365, Intune, Azure and on‑prem servers.
- Assisting with Windows Server migrations, including 2016 to 2022 upgrades.
- Developing PowerShell automations to streamline routine tasks and checks.
- Maintaining accurate configuration and ensuring environments remain secure and stable.
- Contributing to transformation work tied to a major Local Government Reorganisation programme.
- Supporting process improvements, documentation and operational readiness.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong background in Microsoft 365 infrastructure administration.
- Good Intune experience, able to guide junior colleagues when needed.
- Hands‑on experience with hybrid infrastructure and on‑premise estates.
- Solid knowledge of Active Directory and basic Group Policy.
- PowerShell skills for automation and administrative efficiency.
- Foundational networking knowledge (switch/firewall upgrades not required).
- Ability to step into 1st line support when needed.
- Proactive, adaptable and comfortable working with autonomy in a small team.
- Able to hit the ground running with minimal onboarding.
- SCCM experience.
- Azure compute or cloud server familiarity.
- Experience with server migrations or legacy-to-modern transitions.
- Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals (no formal qualifications required).
- Exposure to process improvement or operational transformation work.
