FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT
HYBRID WORKING

Gravitas Group are partnered exclusively with a leading educational institution based in the Northampton area. They’re looking to hire a Financial Accountant to produce timely, accurate and compliant financial reporting.
The Financial Accountant will report into a Lead Financial Accountant, in a team of 6 and work closely with the wider Finance team of over 20.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the production of external financial reports to an excellent standard requiring communication and working across departments to obtain and assemble information.
- Provide clear and effective written and oral communication with external partners such as auditors, bankers and other advisors.
- Support the effective communication of and compliance to financial policies and processes across the group.
- Assist the Lead Financial Accountant with supervision & organisation of Financial Accounting team in specific processes and tasks & cover for Financial Accountant on their monthly tasks.
- Assist with workloads and finance deliverables beyond those of the Financial Accounting team when necessary and able.
- Ownership of Foundation and intercompany transactions
- Understanding of Accounting standards SORP2026
- Ownership of Fixed Assets Ledger and corresponding Project ledger to ensure that assets are correctly capitalised and depreciated in accordance with policy.
- Review and analysis of Other Income to ensure that it is correctly and consistently recorded in the accounts.
- Ownership of Scholarships & Bursaries
- Preparation of the quarterly group VAT return for the Student Union
- Responsible for the accounts of the subsidiaries, including the detailed preparation of the statutory accounts for both the individual subsidiaries and the Group.
- Preparation, data collation and analysis for the annual corporation tax return.
- Ensure that corporation tax on income is applied correctly.
- Production of various balance sheet recs on your areas of responsibility.
- Transaction review, analysis, reporting and compliance.
- Cover & Assistance for Financial Accountant on VAT matters.
- Statutory Reporting incl Office for Students & Charities Commission reporting.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in working for a Not for Profit as a Financial Accountant or equivalent
- Experience in running the Statutory Accounts and Annual Financial Statement preparation within a Not for Profit or Charity Organisation
- ACCA, CIMA, ACA qualified or working towards a qualification.
- Experience in using the SaaS platform One Education, is advantageous, but not essential.
FOR THIS YOU WILL RECEIVE A COMPETATIVE SALARY OF UP TO £55,000 BASE, PLUS EXCELLENT BENEFITS WHICH INCLUDE
