Role Overview:
As a Technical Lead in Java, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring engineering teams, overseeing end-to-end software delivery, and ensuring technical excellence. You will work closely with stakeholders, contribute to architecture decisions, and champion best practices to accelerate project success and technology innovation.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Extensive experience in Java development with a proven track record of leadership
• Ability to manage offshore and geographically distributed teams effectively
• Strong background in full-stack or platform engineering
• Experience owning the complete software delivery lifecycle
• Knowledge of working within Capital Markets environments
• Proficiency in Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and cloud-native technologies
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and mentor development teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
• Oversee the entire software delivery lifecycle from conception to deployment
• Manage offshore teams, ensuring clear communication and team capability development
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and deliver innovative solutions
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, quality standards, and automation
• Ensure security, data privacy, and regulatory compliance are integrated into all projects
Requirements:
• Valid right to work in the UK and on-site availability in London
• Extensive Java software development experience (10+ years) with leadership (5+ years)
• Proven experience managing offshore/distributed teams
• Strong background in full-stack or platform engineering
• Familiarity with Capital Markets or related financial environments
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Candidates with previous VP Engineering experience, exposure to scale-up or high-growth environments, or knowledge of AI/ML integrations are desirable but not mandatory.
