We are seeking a Claims Handler to join a leading Insuer in their London office.
The ideal candidate will handle a portfolio of financial lines claims, including but not limited to professional indemnity, directors & officers liability, financial institutions, and cyber liability. Using your industry knowledge and communication skills, you will manage the end-to-end claims process, ensuring a high-quality service is maintained for clients and stakeholders.
In this role, you will be responsible for assessing new claims, appointing appropriate experts, negotiating settlements, and maintaining regular communication with brokers and clients. You will ensure a proactive approach to claims handling while remaining compliant with relevant internal procedures and external regulations. A strong understanding of the UK insurance and legal environment is essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage a caseload of financial lines claims from first notification through to settlement.
- Review and interpret insurance policies and legal documents to determine claims liability and coverage.
- Appoint and liaise with external legal counsel, loss adjusters, and other third-party service providers.
- Ensure timely and accurate reserves and payments are set in line with company protocols.
- Maintain effective communication with brokers, policyholders, and internal departments.
- Prepare detailed reports, maintaining records of all claim activities and decisions.
- Identify and escalate risks or complex legal issues to senior management where necessary.
- Contribute to claims data analysis, reporting, and process improvements.
Requirements:
- Proven experience handling claims within the financial lines sector is essential.
- Good understanding of UK insurance regulations and claims procedures.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple claims simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-focused approach.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and claims management software.
- CII qualification (or working towards) is desirable but not essential.
- Eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
