Contract AI Engineer (JavaScript/TypeScript) – Early Stage Start-up
Remote (London optional) | £500–£550/day | 3 months | Outside IR35
We’re working with an early-stage start-up building AI-driven products and looking for a JavaScript/TypeScript-focused AI Engineer to join on a 3-month contract. You’ll help shape a proof of concept into a production-ready AI solution.

What you’ll do

Develop and iterate on a POC AI agent that can engage in 2-way conversations, ask follow-ups, and provide candidate insights

Build features to compare candidates and surface unique strengths

Collaborate with backend and frontend teams to rapidly test and evolve functionality

Tailor insights to real-world hirer briefs and business challenges
What we’re looking for

Strong experience in JavaScript/TypeScript

Proficiency with NestJS, GraphQL, and Next.js

Experience with AI/ML tooling (Vertex AI, Gemini, or similar)

Background in WebSockets/realtime systems
-
Bonus: exposure to Rust, S3, or GCP
