Project Manager (EPC/Transport)

You will manage and deliver high-profile work packages within a major infrastructure renewal programme, including asset renewals, fleet procurement and introduction, fleet refurbishment, systems and track renewal projects, and other infrastructure improvement and asset renewal works. You will oversee projects throughout the full lifecycle, from feasibility and design through procurement, construction and implementation.

• Rate: £400 per day (DOE)
• IR35: Outside IR35
• Contract: 6 months
• Start Date: August
• Location: Yorkshire, United Kingdom (hybrid, 1–2 days per week)

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams, including internal stakeholders, external partners, operators, professional advisers, consultants and contractors.
• Manage project delivery to ensure objectives are achieved safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
• Drive feasibility, outline and detailed design, procurement, and construction/delivery activities.
• Monitor progress, resolve issues and make timely decisions to maintain programme and budget targets.
• Produce, communicate and update project documentation, including schedules, reports, risk registers, risk management plans, change control records, cost measures, forecasts, monthly performance reports and final accounts.
• Own financial management, including fees, construction costs, contingencies and direct costs, ensuring accurate and timely forecasting.
• Proactively manage risks, issues, opportunities, contract obligations, budgets and change throughout the project lifecycle, escalating where required.
• Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, including senior stakeholders and members of the public.
• Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations, seeking specialist advice where necessary.

Essential Experience & Skills:

• Proven experience delivering complex infrastructure, transport, rail, light rail, or major capital programmes.
• Strong project management expertise across design, procurement and construction phases.
• Demonstrable experience managing external consultants, contractors and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong budget management, cost control, risk management and project reporting capability.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with senior leaders, external partners and public-facing stakeholders.
• Sound understanding of health and safety requirements in infrastructure and construction environments, including CDM Regulations.
