We’re supporting an NHS organisation seeking an experienced Contract Project Manager to lead a major upgrade of its Patient Administration System (PAS).

This is a high-impact role delivering the upgrade from System C CareFlow PAS v5.0 to v7.0, introducing a new Patient Demographic Service (PDS) link, and managing a concurrent Business Intelligence (BI) platform upgrade to v6.5.0.

This opportunity will suit a highly organised, technically strong Project Manager with proven experience delivering complex clinical system upgrades in live NHS environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of the PAS upgrade from planning through go-live and post-implementation review

  • Manage the upgrade from System C CareFlow PAS v5.0 to v7.0, ensuring clinical, technical, and operational requirements are met

  • Coordinate implementation of the PDS link, working closely with NHS Digital and system suppliers

  • Identify and manage risks relating to bespoke functionality not supported in v7.0, developing mitigation plans

  • Oversee dependencies with the BI system upgrade to v6.5.0, ensuring alignment and minimal service disruption

  • Produce and maintain project documentation including plans, RAID logs, governance papers, and lessons learned

  • Engage clinical, administrative, informatics, and IT stakeholders to ensure readiness and adoption

  • Oversee testing, training, data validation, and cutover activities

  • Provide regular progress reporting and assurance to senior stakeholders and governance boards

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven delivery of complex digital projects within the NHS or large healthcare environments

  • Strong knowledge of Patient Administration Systems (PAS) – ideally System C CareFlow (or Cerner, Lorenzo, Allscripts, etc.)

  • Demonstrable experience managing system upgrades or integrations in live hospital settings

  • Experience with NHS Digital integration services, particularly PDS

  • Strong risk, issue, and dependency management skills

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills across clinical and technical teams

  • Structured project planning with an agile and pragmatic delivery approach

 Desirable

  • Knowledge of BI/reporting platforms, data migration, and data governance

  • PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP, or Agile project management certification

  • Experience working with suppliers such as System C and NHS Digital.
