Role: Senior Product Engineer
Salary range: £100,000 - £160,000
Location: 4-5 days on site, Kings Cross

A mission-driven firm is hiring a Senior Product Engineer to help build the systems and tools that support a new wave of companies tackling humanity’s biggest challenges, from decarbonization and bioengineering to machine learning and planetary health.
They are a small team of technologists, operators, and scientists backing and building alongside deep tech startups at the earliest stages. You’ll be the fourth engineer on the team, with the opportunity to design and own core products and infrastructure from the ground up.
This role blends product-minded engineering with startup-level autonomy. You’ll ship internal tools, data platforms, founder-facing products, and experimental projects all aimed at helping world-changing companies scale faster and smarter.
What you'll do:
- Architect, build, and maintain scalable internal and external-facing tools
- Collaborate directly with technical founders, scientists, and investors
- Drive product discovery with a mix of engineering insight and experimentation
- Lead technical design decisions and mentor junior team members over time
- Contribute to a long-term vision of enabling impact-driven innovation at scale
Essentials for this role:
- 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, ideally across multiple domains
- Demonstrated ability to ship and maintain high-quality products end-to-end
- Strong product sense — you think beyond the code and care about the why
- Ability to work independently and thrive in ambiguity
- Clear, thoughtful communicator who values collaboration and feedback
Bonus experience (not required):
- Background in early-stage startups, venture studios, or R&D environments
- Experience with data pipelines, analytics tooling, or low-code platforms
- Knowledge of domains like synthetic biology, climate tech, or ML
- Contributions to open-source projects or public-facing engineering work
- Interest in supporting mission-driven founders and scientific innovation
