We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Purview Consultant to support a housing-sector IT environment, helping to establish robust data governance, information protection, and compliance capabilities. This engagement is Outside IR35, for an initial 3 months, and is Remote.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement Microsoft Purview capabilities including Data Map, Data Catalogue, classification, lineage, and scanning.
- Define and embed data governance operating model, policies, and controls aligned to housing data needs (tenant, repairs, finance, HR).
- Configure sensitivity labels, retention labels/policies, and Data Loss Prevention using Microsoft Purview Information Protection and compliance features.
- Support eDiscovery (Standard/Premium), audit, and compliance reporting aligned to organisational and regulatory requirements.
- Integrate Purview with Microsoft 365, Azure data sources, and on-premises/hybrid estates where applicable.
- Deliver workshops, documentation, and knowledge transfer to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Essential Requirements
- Proven hands-on delivery experience with Microsoft Purview (governance and/or compliance) in production environments.
- Strong understanding of data governance, information management, data classification, retention, and records management.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 compliance features (sensitivity labels, retention, DLP, audit, eDiscovery).
- Knowledge of Azure data services and identity/security fundamentals (Azure AD/Entra ID, RBAC, least privilege).
- Understanding of UK data protection and regulatory expectations (including UK GDPR) and practical application in controls.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate clearly with stakeholders across IT, security, and business teams.
Desirable
- Experience within housing or public sector environments, including data domains and governance challenges.
- Microsoft certifications such as SC-400, SC-900, AZ-500, or relevant Purview-focused credentials.
- Experience with hybrid data landscapes, data estates discovery, and data quality/metadata management practices.
Deliverables
- Purview configuration aligned to governance and compliance outcomes.
- Documented policies, data classification model, and operating procedures.
- Implementation runbook, stakeholder training materials, and handover to BAU teams.
