We are seeking a skilled and driven Lead Software Engineer to join my clients technology team based in London. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the development and delivery of cutting-edge software solutions that support the organisation’s strategic objectives within the Housing Association sector.

This is not a traditional management role; we are looking for a hands-on Lead Developer who can guide and mentor a talented team of developers without the need for formal people management. Our ideal candidate will be a strong technical lead who is passionate about upskilling those around them, and understands the importance of building robust, scalable and secure applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical decision-making and guide software development processes.
  • Mentor and support a high-performing team of software engineers, nurturing technical skills and best practices.
  • Assist in sprint planning and facilitate scrum ceremonies to ensure timely delivery.
  • Work closely with project managers to support requirements gathering and translate business needs into technical specifications.
  • Ensure secure application delivery, working in line with Cyber Essentials guidelines.
  • Support the adoption and implementation of test automation processes and tools.
  • Contribute to the development and deployment of software using AWS and Terraform.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience with C# and .NET Core (latest version).
  • Good understanding of JavaScript or Bootstrap for frontend development.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with SQL Server and/or MySQL.
  • Hands-on experience in deploying applications to AWS.
  • Working knowledge of Terraform and infrastructure as code principles.
  • Familiarity with security principles aligned with Cyber Essentials standards.
  • Understanding of Agile development processes, especially in sprint planning and scrum practices.
  • Demonstrable experience mentoring and developing team members.
  • Experience with manual and automated testing methods.

Desirable:

  • Experience in requirements gathering alongside project managers.
  • A collaborative mindset with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

My client is offering a salary of £60,000  and a dynamic work environment where collaboration and innovation are valued.
