We are seeking a strategic leader to head our Business Design & Architecture function, aligning transformation and change initiatives with our organisational strategy and Target Operating Model (TOM). This role plays a key part in shaping the future of our organisation, ensuring all business architecture efforts support enterprise objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Business Architecture and Service Design teams, including the Business Analysis practice (30%)
- Develop, maintain, and improve the Business Architecture Framework, ensuring alignment to TOM and corporate strategy (25%)
- Collaborate internally across directorates, governance groups, projects and functions to ensure integrated, strategy-aligned design (25%)
- Engage externally with regulatory bodies and design peers to benchmark and embed best practice (5%)
- Provide strategic input into budget decisions affecting service design and system solutions (5%)
- Ensure compliance with governance, design standards, and regulatory frameworks (5%)
- Oversee business design tooling including process maps, service blueprints, and capability libraries (5%)
- Identify and manage risks associated with misaligned or inefficient business designs (5%)
People Management:
Direct Reports: Up to 6
Indirect Reports: Up to 20
Budget Responsibility:
Operational and Capital Expenditure: Up to £1 million
Skills & Experience:
- Proven leadership in enterprise business architecture across complex, cross-functional environments (essential)
- Significant experience in designing and governing Target Operating Models (essential)
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate objectives into effective designs (essential)
- Experience with cross-disciplinary integration of people, process, technology, and data (essential)
- Proven track record in managing design assurance and governance forums (essential)
- Effective engagement with senior stakeholders and influencing at executive level (essential)
- Knowledge of business design tools such as process mapping and capability modelling (desirable)
- Awareness of agile methodologies and iterative design (desirable)
- Experience in regulated sectors such as housing or public services (desirable)
- Familiarity with service innovation and user-centred design techniques (desirable)
