Engineering Manager (Cloud)

Our client is a renowned organisation within the UK’s technology sector, known for their high-traffic consumer platform utilised by millions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated Cloud Foundations team, shaping cloud strategy and driving operational excellence. As an Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in enabling hundreds of engineers to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure cloud services, making this position essential for the organisation’s continued growth and success.

Role Overview:
The purpose of this role is to lead and oversee the cloud infrastructure, security, and governance teams, ensuring platform reliability and cost efficiency, while fostering a culture of automation and continuous improvement within the wider technology team.

Key Skills & Experience:
• Proven experience managing cloud platform/infrastructure teams in a product-led environment
• Hands-on background with GKE, Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka, Elasticsearch, CDN/WAF
• Strong grasp of cloud security, IAM, and governance frameworks
• Leadership ability to coach and develop engineers effectively
• Knowledge of FinOps and cost-optimisation practices

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead a team across cloud infrastructure, security, governance, and FinOps
• Own platform reliability, disaster recovery planning, incident management, and observability
• Drive automation initiatives, including Infrastructure as Code and Policy-as-Code to reduce manual toil and enhance governance
• Collaborate with a Platform Product Manager on roadmaps and OKRs
• Manage vendor relationships and optimise cloud spend

Requirements:
• Right to work in the UK
• Experience managing cloud infrastructure teams in a product environment
• On-site working in London with flexible hybrid arrangements
• Proven leadership experience in cloud technologies and security frameworks
• Knowledge of relevant tools and platforms including GKE, Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka, Elasticsearch, CDN/WAF
