Assistant Underwriter – Casualty

Overview
An excellent opportunity for an aspiring underwriter to join a growing Casualty team, supporting the underwriting of new and existing business. The role offers exposure to risk assessment, broker relationships, pricing and portfolio management, providing a strong foundation for a long-term underwriting career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support underwriters in the assessment and analysis of Casualty risks.
  • Gather, review and validate underwriting information to support decision-making.
  • Assist with pricing, policy terms and conditions in line with underwriting guidelines.
  • Manage renewals, new business submissions and mid-term policy adjustments.
  • Liaise with brokers and internal stakeholders to ensure an efficient underwriting process.
  • Maintain accurate underwriting records and documentation across internal systems.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and develop an understanding of key risk drivers and market trends.
  • Contribute to delivering commercially sound and compliant underwriting decisions.

Requirements

  • Previous insurance experience, ideally within Casualty underwriting or a related insurance function.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyse information effectively.
  • Good understanding of risk assessment principles and underwriting processes.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commercial mindset with a keen interest in developing underwriting expertise.
