Senior Ports & Terminal Underwriter

Role Overview:
The Senior Ports & Terminal Underwriter is responsible for underwriting and developing a portfolio of international ports and maritime business. Reporting directly to the Portfolio Manager, the role plays a vital part in enhancing profitability, supporting claims management, and contributing to strategic reporting and system development within the wider team.

Key Responsibilities:
• Execute business plans using delegated authority in underwriting decisions
• Provide technical underwriting support to the team
• Research and develop business opportunities through brokers and international offices
• Use technical expertise to improve profitability of renewals and attract profitable new business
• Monitor claims and liaise with claims teams to ensure appropriate settlements
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, Lloyd’s regulations, and regulatory standards (PRA/FCA)
• Assist in developing tools for monitoring and reporting exposure and technical pricing models
• Report on market developments, underwriting results, and contribute to quarterly and annual reports
• Participate in relevant committees and support the wider operational and risk management functions
Requirements:
• Relevant experience in Ports and Terminals underwriting
• Current or recent role in the London Market
• At least 3+ years of relevant experience
• Ability to work on-site in a hybrid environment
• Right to work in the UK
• Knowledge of Lloyd’s regulations and PRA/FCA standards
• Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
Nice to Have:
• Experience with GIB International Business, GIB UK Business, GIUW COB Marine, GIUW COB Energy, or KRQA
