Junior Front End Engineer

The Junior Front End Engineer joins a dedicated development team within the company to build and support web applications using React and TypeScript. Role Overview
The Junior Front End Engineer will assist in developing and maintaining business web applications hosted in AWS and Firebase. The position involves translating operational needs into functional features, investigating issues, and ensuring application reliability and security. You will be involved throughout the development lifecycle, collaborating across teams to influence product development and deployment processes. Working within a small, evolving team, success will be measured by delivering straightforward, user-focused features that meet operational requirements.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Build and maintain production web applications using React and TypeScript
  • Use cloud services for hosting, authentication, and server-side processing
  • Manage deployments, permissions, logging, and troubleshooting in cloud environments
  • Work with relational and/or document databases, including data modelling and querying
  • Follow Agile methodologies, conduct code reviews, and implement automated testing

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Vue.js, Angular, Node.js, or .NET
  • Familiarity with Firebase services including Firestore, Authentication, Hosting, and Functions
  • Knowledge of AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Experience with SQL Server or Azure SQL
  • Understanding of configurable forms, reports, workflows, API integration, CI/CD automation, or AI coding assistants
  • Handling sensitive personal data or developing software for the care sector

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing web applications using React and TypeScript, ensuring functionality aligns with user needs
  • Support the deployment and maintenance of applications in cloud environments
  • Investigate and resolve issues to improve application performance and security
  • Collaborate with colleagues across teams to deliver user-focused features
  • Contribute to code reviews, automated testing, and best practices for development

Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Proven experience building and maintaining production web applications with React and TypeScript
  • Experience using cloud services for hosting and server-side processing
  • Familiarity with deployments, permissions, logging, and troubleshooting in cloud environments
  • Experience working with relational and/or document databases, including data modelling and querying
  • Knowledge of Agile working, version control, and automated testing
  • On-site, hybrid working environment
