Power BI Developer
Rate: £400 per day

Overview
An experienced Power BI Developer is required within the Housing IT sector to design, build, and support insightful reporting and analytics solutions. You will work with stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust datasets, dashboards, and self-service reporting that drives operational and regulatory decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models aligned to business needs.
- Design star schema data models and optimise DAX measures for performance and clarity.
- Build and manage Power Query (M) transformations and reusable dataflows.
- Integrate data from SQL Server, APIs, spreadsheets, and housing management systems where applicable.
- Implement governance, security, and access controls including RLS and workspace management.
- Support release management, testing, and documentation; ensure reports are accurate and auditable.
- Work closely with data engineers/DBAs to improve data quality, lineage, and refresh reliability.
- Engage stakeholders to gather requirements, run workshops, and provide training for self-service adoption.
Essential Requirements
- Proven commercial experience delivering Power BI solutions end-to-end.
- Strong DAX, data modelling, and Power Query (M) skills.
- Solid SQL skills (writing and optimising queries, views, and stored procedures).
- Experience with Power BI Service, gateways, scheduled refresh, and deployment practices.
- Knowledge of data governance, information security, and best practice report design.
- Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage priorities to deadlines.
Desirable
- Experience in Housing, local government, or regulated environments (e.g., KPI reporting).
- Familiarity with Azure data services (e.g., Azure SQL, Data Factory, Synapse).
- Understanding of data quality frameworks and metadata/cataloguing approaches.
