The Head of IT joins a UK-based fashion retailer, delivering strategic and technical leadership to maintain a high-performing, innovative technology function. This role supports the company’s rapid growth and modernisation efforts, ensuring seamless technology integration across the business.

The organisation operates within a fast-paced, multi-site retail environment, requiring a senior IT leader to balance technical expertise with team leadership and stakeholder engagement. The role involves both hands-on technical responsibilities and strategic planning to enhance service delivery and drive technological adoption.

Key Skills & Experience

• Lead and develop high-performing IT teams through coaching and performance reviews
• Manage hybrid infrastructure, ensuring secure and seamless integration between on-premise and cloud environments
• Administer Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and identity platforms including Entra ID
• Support and maintain Windows, Apple macOS, Microsoft Intune, JAMF, and Apple Business Manager
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, networking, cloud, and security issues
• Lead cybersecurity controls, disaster recovery, backups, and endpoint security

Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS Cloud Security
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash or Python

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership to foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the IT team
• Support hybrid infrastructure design, configuration, and ongoing maintenance
• Manage vendor relationships to ensure service quality and contractual compliance
• Lead the implementation and continuous enhancement of cybersecurity measures
• Support technology planning aligned with business growth and operational needs
• Enhance service delivery and user adoption through training, communication, and process improvements
• Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and change management initiatives with minimal disruption

Requirements

• Proven experience as a senior IT leader in a fast-paced, multi-site environment
• Hands-on technical background as a Systems Administrator, Infrastructure Engineer, Network Engineer, Cloud Engineer or Infrastructure Architect
• Experience within retail, e-commerce or customer-facing organisations is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of hybrid cloud, on-premise infrastructure, and networking technologies
• Skilled in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Entra ID, Windows, Apple macOS, and endpoint management tools
• Practical networking knowledge including routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, SD-WAN and enterprise Wi-Fi
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity, disaster recovery, backup, and endpoint security
• Experience with scripting to automate administrative tasks is desirable
