Gravitas Recruitment Group is proud to be working exclusively with an innovative wearable tech company that is redefining how athletes train, perform, and improve — with a focus on the world of skiing.
As they continue to grow and build on early success, we’re supporting them in hiring a Mid to Senior Data Scientist to join their London-based team. This is a rare opportunity to combine your technical expertise with a passion for high-performance sport in a product-driven, mission-led environment.
About You:
- Proven experience applying machine learning to wearable sensor data (e.g., accelerometers, gyroscopes, IMUs)
- Strong background in physics and the ability to quickly understand the mechanics and biomechanics of skiing
- Experience working in high-paced environments, ideally start-ups / scale-ups
- A genuine passion for skiing – ideally a former instructor, ex-competitive skier, or someone highly invested in personal technique improvement
- Strong coding and data analysis skills, with a mindset geared toward innovation and iteration
What You’ll Do:
- Develop data pipelines to streamline labelling and processing of raw sensor data for model training.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis using mathematical modelling and statistical methods to validate hypotheses.
- Collaborate with top instructors and athletes to integrate expert insights with data from thousands of skiers.
- Design and train machine learning models using raw sensor input to enhance terrain assessment, skiing technique evaluation, and coaching effectiveness.
- Apply explainable AI techniques to ensure models are transparent and easy for users to understand.
- Optimise and deploy machine learning models on resource-constrained mobile devices.
- Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to design and implement new features and data visualisations.
- Investigate and resolve edge cases and issues reported by customers after deployment.
Why Join:
- Work on a cutting-edge product at the intersection of sport, science, and technology
- Hybrid working model based in London
- Competitive salary + equity options + annual bonus
- Opportunities for international travel, including skiing trips for real-world product testing
