Data Engineer
Our client is a social housing provider based in Lancashire that is embarking on a major five-year, Microsoft-led technology transformation. This role involves building data pipelines and bridges using MS Fabric to connect their entire operation, bridging the gap between complex code and business strategy. The successful candidate will play a vital part in enabling the organisation's data-driven decision-making and operational improvements.
Role Overview:
The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining cloud-based ETL/ELT pipelines, with a focus on MS Fabric components. The role requires working closely with stakeholders across the organisation to understand their needs and develop solutions that enhance business processes. This position is integral to supporting the organisation’s digital transformation, ensuring data quality, compliance, and effective migration from legacy systems.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and Power BI
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric components
• Proven experience in migrating from on-prem (SSIS) to cloud-based ETL/ELT pipelines
• Experience implementing error handling and GDPR compliance
Key Responsibilities:
• Build and optimise data pipelines connecting various systems within the organisation
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions accordingly
• Support the migration of legacy data systems to modern cloud-based platforms
• Ensure data quality and compliance across all data processes
• Contribute to the organisation’s data architecture and strategy
Requirements:
• Right to work in the UK
• Experience working in Lancashire or able to work on-site as required
• Proven data engineering experience, particularly with Microsoft Fabric and legacy migration
• Strong technical skills in SQL, Python, Power BI
• Ability to liaise with business stakeholders effectively
Nice to Have:
• Experience in the housing or social housing sector
