Data Engineer

Our client is a reputable organisation committed to delivering innovative solutions in a dynamic environment that values collaboration and technical excellence. The role involves supporting a finance systems implementation programme by focusing on data development, transformation, and integration within an Azure-based data platform. This position offers the opportunity to work in a technically complex setting, contributing to important system upgrades and data solutions, with a flexible hybrid working environment.

Role Overview:

The Data Engineer will play a key role in supporting the delivery of finance-related data solutions. The responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines within Azure Synapse Analytics, performing ETL/ELT transformations, and ensuring data quality standards. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support system implementation and data integration tasks.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Analytics

• Proven experience using Dedicated SQL Pools

• Advanced SQL development skills

• Practical experience with ETL / ELT solutions on Azure data platforms

• Experience using Azure DevOps for source control, task management, and CI/CD pipelines

• Experience ingesting and transforming data from APIs, relational databases, and flat files

Key Responsibilities:

• Support data development activities for a finance systems implementation

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines within Azure Synapse Analytics

• Perform data transformations to support downstream reporting and integration

• Collaborate with developers working on Azure Function Apps, Service Bus, and other integration tools

• Ingest and transform data from diverse sources such as SQL-based systems, REST APIs, OData feeds, and flat files

• Utilize Azure DevOps for task management, source control, and CI/CD pipeline operations

• Ensure data outputs meet quality standards and project requirements

• Work closely with the wider delivery team, validating assumptions and contributing to technical discussions

Requirements:

• Right to work in the UK

• Availability to start on 27/04/2026

• On-site presence required

• Willingness to work in a hybrid environment

• Pay rate of £450 per day

• Experience delivering data solutions in finance environments (desirable)

• Exposure to Microsoft Fabric and multi-system integration experience (optional but advantageous)
