Data & Analytics Manager

A leading international specialty commercial insurance organisation is seeking an experienced Data & Analytics Manager to join its team. Role Overview:
The Data & Analytics Manager plays a pivotal role within the organisation’s data and analytics transformation. The purpose of this position is to lead technical development, ensure the delivery of data-driven insights, and foster strategic partnerships across departments to embed analytics into core business processes.

Key Skills & Experience:
• Strong experience in enterprise data management and analytics best practices
• Proven delivery of BI platforms and operational reporting solutions
• Experience designing normalized, star schema, and multidimensional data models
• Strong understanding of ETL processes, data warehousing, and slowly changing dimensions
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Ability to articulate technical and analytical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
• Proven ability to manage priorities in a complex, delivery-focused environment
• Technical expertise in Microsoft BI stack: SSIS, SSRS, SQL Server (advanced querying and optimisation)
• Experience with Control-M scheduling, Google Cloud Platform (Composer, BigQuery, Vertex AI), Tableau, and Python

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide data and analytics initiatives aligned with strategic business objectives
• Design and deploy analytical models, dashboards, and reporting solutions to inform decision-making
• Partner with Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial, IT, and Business Insights teams to embed analytics into core processes
• Provide strategic leadership for enterprise and digital transformation projects
• Manage, coach, and lead a globally distributed team of data engineers and analytics specialists
• Oversee work estimation, prioritisation, and resource planning based on business needs
• Ensure delivery governance, including JIRA tracking, Confluence documentation, and technical design standards
• Lead technical designs across data models, ETL processes, and visualisation solutions
• Support global reporting initiatives aligned with US-led data and analytics programmes
• Enforce best practices in code quality, data modelling, and pipeline design
• Collaborate with DevOps teams on data pipeline, API, and deployment infrastructure
• Lead metadata management, lineage tracking, and orchestration strategies
• Ensure reporting quality through reviews, documentation, and testing
• Manage incident resolution, root cause analysis, and long-term solutions
• Maintain audit readiness with proper documentation, access control, and lineage
• Establish and maintain relationships with third-party analytics and technology providers

Requirements:
• Right to work in the UK
• Location: on-site in London (hybrid working model)
• Experience relevant to the technical and industry-specific requirements outlined above
• Proven ability to manage complex projects in a delivery-focused environment

Nice to Have:
• Background in insurance with knowledge of industry KPIs and KRIs
• Experience with financial and insurance data models
• Familiarity with Alteryx
