We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. This fully remote role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of data infrastructure and analytics. As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and systems that support business intelligence, data science, and reporting needs. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to ensure seamless data flows, efficient storage, and reliable access to critical data assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and reliable data pipelines.
- Integrate data from diverse sources including APIs, databases, and flat files.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements.
- Implement monitoring and alerting systems to detect and resolve data-related issues.
- Optimise database and data storage performance for analytical workflows.
- Work with cloud-based data services such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar position involving data pipeline development.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or Scala.
- Experience with ETL tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, dbt, Talend).
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and cloud-native data tools.
- Familiarity with data modelling, data warehousing, and modern architectures such as data lakes and lakehouses.
- Understanding of DevOps practices and version control (e.g., Git).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with streaming data and real-time processing (e.g., Kafka, Spark Streaming).
- Knowledge of data governance and security best practices.
- Background in data analytics or data science.

- Day Rate: £450 per day
- Location: Remote (UK based)
