In this session, Claire Blacka and Steve Dungworth explore how social housing organisations can move beyond traditional engagement towards something more meaningful and participatory.
They will introduce Game of Homes, a structured, gamified workshop that brings tenants and colleagues together to solve real service challenges. The session will walk through how it works in practice, from creating psychologically safe environments, through to collaborative problem-solving and the development of actionable solutions.
Game of Homes is a facilitated, in-person workshop that uses structured gameplay to bring tenants and housing professionals together to tackle real service challenges. Through a series of guided activities, ranging from icebreakers to collaborative problem-solving using visual prompts, participants explore issues such as repairs, complaints or policy changes in a more open and inclusive way. Ideas are generated collectively, tested, and prioritised into practical, actionable solutions. The format is deliberately designed to create psychological safety, encourage broader participation, and move engagement from feedback to genuine co-production.
Framed around transparency, influence and accountability, the session will show how organisations can create clearer links between tenant input and decision-making and support stronger governance, better services and increased trust.
