We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist/ML Engineer to play a critical role in advancing our AI and machine learning capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing team working on cutting-edge technologies with a focus on Agentic AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Large Language Models (LLMs). The ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach to ML engineering and deep experience in building and deploying scalable AI solutions.

Contract Details:

  • Location: Remote (Very Occasional office travel may be required
  • Contract Length: 6 months initial contract
  • IR35 Status: Outside IR35
  • Day Rate: Up to £650 per day

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimise and deploy machine learning models with a focus on LLMs and Agentic AI systems
  • Design and implement RAG pipelines to enhance conversational AI performance and data retrieval efficacy
  • Create scalable, production-ready solutions that integrate with existing business infrastructure
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers, data engineers and product managers to deliver high-impact AI projects
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI, especially in generative models and multi-agent systems
  • Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation and knowledge sharing initiatives

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Strong experience in developing and deploying machine learning models, particularly in NLP and generative AI domains
  • Hands-on expertise with Agentic AI frameworks, large-scale language models (e.g. GPT, BERT, LLaMA) and RAG techniques
  • Proficiency in Python and relevant ML libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, LangChain, or comparable frameworks
  • Proven experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure within a machine learning or data science context
  • Strong understanding of model performance optimisation, fine-tuning of LLMs, and safe deployment practices
  • Familiarity with vector databases (e.g. FAISS, Pinecone) and modern data architectures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or related field
  • Previous experience working on Agentic AI or intelligent multi-agent systems in a commercial setting
  • Track record of delivering AI solutions within highly regulated environments or public sector organisations
