We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Python Engineer to join a fast-paced project within the recruitment sector. This opportunity offers complete remote working within the UK and falls outside IR35 regulations, offering freedom and flexibility for the right contractor. The initial contract will run for 12 months, with a daily rate of £550–600 depending on experience.
As a Senior Python Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimising scalable applications and APIs that serve a high-volume platform. You will work alongside a collaborative team of developers and product experts, contributing heavily to the codebase and technical decisions. A strong background in backend development using Python is essential, along with modern practices related to cloud computing, RESTful APIs, and agile methodologies.
In this role, you will be expected to:
- Architect and build robust backend services using Python
- Design and develop RESTful APIs to support data-driven recruitment platforms
- Collaborate closely with front-end developers using TypeScript to ensure seamless integration
- Utilise AWS services to deploy, monitor, and scale applications in a reliable cloud environment
- Take ownership of code quality and promote best practices including testing, code reviews, and continuous integration
- Actively contribute to the ongoing improvement of software design and technical processes
To be successful in this role, the following experience and skills are required:
- Extensive expertise in Python development, ideally in large-scale systems
- Strong understanding of AWS and cloud-native development
- Experience working with TypeScript or close collaboration with front-end technologies
- Proficiency in designing and implementing APIs (REST) and working with distributed services
- Solid grasp of CI/CD pipelines, containerisation, and infrastructure as code
- Comfortable working in an agile, test-driven development environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
