Joining as an Actuarial Analyst, you will deliver vital support in pricing, profitability, and data analysis within property and casualty insurance. This position is crucial in developing automated models and analytical tools that enhance underwriting decisions and business performance.

Our client is a leading insurance provider with a strong growth history, operating across multiple European markets. The organisation fosters an open, ambitious culture that values technical excellence and innovative data solutions.

Role Overview
You will be part of a team responsible for building and maintaining actuarial models in Python and SQL, directly supporting underwriting and pricing teams.

Reporting to the senior actuary, success will be measured by the accuracy, usability, and impact of the models and tools developed.

The role offers the opportunity to take early ownership of analysis, with clear pathways for professional development and comprehensive study support for actuarial exams for those wishing to pursue qualification.

During the first six months, the role will focus on gaining hands-on underwriting experience, driving data quality improvements, and collaborating with international colleagues across multiple markets. Following this initial period, the position will transition into a more actuarially focused role, providing the opportunity to further develop your technical expertise and broaden your actuarial skillset.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Build automated models, pipelines, and dashboards in Python and SQL.
  • Analyse data to inform underwriting decisions across property, casualty, and fleet motor.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, and data teams within an international context.
  • Develop maintainable and reusable analytical tools aligned with business needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement models supporting pricing, premium adequacy, and profitability analysis.
  • Convert ad-hoc analyses into sustainable, automated tools for team use.
  • Work closely with underwriters to understand decision processes and optimise data-driven insights.
  • Improve data quality at source and enhance dataset usability for competitive advantage.

Requirements
  • Our client offers a hybrid working model, typically requiring employees to be in the central Manchester office three days per week.
  • You’ll be a graduate in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline, with a minimum grade of B in your degree and a B in A-Level Mathematics.
  • Demonstrable experience using Python and SQL, with the ability to showcase end-to-end project delivery.
  • The client is open to considering both recent graduates and candidates with prior non-life actuarial experience across any line of business.
  • A strong interest in pursuing actuarial qualifications while continuing to develop data and analytics skills.
  • The client does not offer any visa sponsorship, so you must have the full RTW in the UK.
