We are thrilled to be partnering with a client who is in the market for a Statutory returns Manager to lead their operational engagement with Higher Education Statistics Agency(HESA) and the continual improvement of that process. The client is welcoming exceptional candidates outside of the higher Education sector in order to support professionals to upskill in a dynamic environment. You will be responsible for the development and the day-to-day delivery of Statutory Returns as well as being part of strategic decision-making relevant to the statutory returns.

This will involve mid year and end year external reporting in a business as usual environment. A great opportunity for the successful candidate to drive change and improve processes in the organiosation.

Location: Hybrid | Paisley | 2-3 days per week

Salary: £40,522 - £48,349

What we need to see as essential:

  • Strong ability to interpret complex data regulations and compliance
  • Experience conducting and managing end to end statistical reporting to regulatory/governing bodies (including meeting their strict data models / rules)
  • Demonstratable interrogation of complex data bases
  • Takes a self-starter approach
  • Strong stakeholder management skills (influencing at all levels)

The role:

Reporting to the Head of Strategic Planning you will be responsible for the operational leadership of statutory returns. Statutory returns is an area that the team can up skill the right candidate on if they have strong understanding of what is required to complete regulatory reporting to a governing body following data models and strict regulations/compliance.

The role will involve working closely with a number of Data owner as well as, Data Governance and Executive team to report progress, actions and overall risks to ensure Statutory Reporting is moving forward and advice on strategic decisions. You will have strong stakeholder management skill sets, because this is a role that will give you autonomy to make an impact how data is processed but also how you contribute to your own professional development. One of the key working streams the post holder will be involved with is the empowerment of data owners within the organisation, supporting the Head of Statutory Returns in taking the next steps towards accountability supporting relevant teams to drive that.

This is a great opportunity to utilise your systematic approach to tease out the complexity presented from such regulatory reporting/ returns and overseeing the end-to-end management with a team of 2.

This role would be a good opportunity for the right candidate to up skill on in demand skill set in the higher sector(statutory reporting) or for someone that had strong expertise in external reporting in HE environment to utilise the university's professional developments on offer, change how data is utilised/ processed to make an impact and develop themselves by free post grad courses(free of charge).

Desirable skills:

  • Knowledge or experience of statutory returns (HESA DF, HESES, ITT, Graduate Outcomes, etc)
  • Experience working with Tribal SITS student records management system
  • Experience with SQL scripting and Data Visual platforms (PowerBI, Tableau, QlikView, etc)
  • Expertise with Excel in data manipulation and analysis
